Clogher/Kilmore pre-consultation period extended

The Clogher/Kilmore Project Board has announced that it has extended the period for responses to its pre-consultation document on the future of Catholic post primary education in the Clogher/Kilmore Dioceses.

The Clogher/Kilmore Project Board has announced that it has extended the period for responses to its pre-consultation document on the future of Catholic post primary education in the Clogher/Kilmore Dioceses.

In June 2007, the Board published ‘Shaping the Future of Catholic Education’. The pre-consultation document outlined a series of options to ensure the continuation of high quality education and address the challenges facing Catholic Education in the Clogher/Kilmore Dioceses.

The proposed options were developed following consultation with principals and Boards of Governors of all of the post-primary schools involved in this process.

Since June, the Clogher/Kilmore Project Board have met to consider a number of responses to the pre-consultation document. After reviewing the submitted responses it became evident that some additional work would be required to support the development of alternative solutions.

Consequently the Clogher/Kilmore Project Board has decided to extend the deadline for responses to the pre-consultation document from 28 September 2007 to 31 December 2007.

This extended deadline will allow pupils, staff, parents and communities to take time to reflect on the challenges that are facing them and to develop proposals that will secure the long-term future of a sustainable and vibrant Catholic education community. The Post-Primary Review Team is available as a resource to provide support and assistance throughout this process.

The Project Board is very grateful for the contributions that have been made to the process and would encourage all schools to continue to engage positively with the ultimate aim of buildingcentres of learning and excellence for future generations.
