Commission meets with Principals of Catholic Schools

01 July 2007

The Northern Ireland Commission for Catholic Education has met with the principals, chairs of Governors and trustees from all Catholic grammar and secondary schools from each diocese in a series of planned meetings over the last two months.

The purpose of these meetings was to formally launch the Commission’s post-primary review process and projects at a diocesan and local level.

Furthermore the above series of meetings enabled the Commission to brief key stakeholders on the developments and the agreed process for reviewing Catholic education provision across Northern Ireland.

Bishop Donal McKeown, Chairman of the Commission said,

“These planned meetings will enable the Commission to fully explain to our governors, principals and Trustees the structured and planned approach which the Commission has undertaken to adequately prepare Catholic post-primary schools to meet the challenges and new arrangements ahead.

The Commission is committed to working together towards a ‘Shared Future’ and ensuring diversity of provision within the Catholic sector.

The Commission has several projects currently underway including one in the dioceses of Clogher and Kilmore which is at a pre-consultation stage.
